Tsinghua University and NTU Deepen Partnership with Dual Degree Programme and Academic Collaboration

The School of Journalism and Communication of Tsinghua University, China, and the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to bolster collaboration in graduate studies through a dual degree programme. The MOU was signed between Prof May Oo Lwin, Chair, WKWSCI and Prof Zhou Qing’an, Dean, School of Journalism and Communication on 14 May 2024. The collaboration paves the way for fruitful exchanges in academic knowledge, cultural understanding, and industry engagement between both schools that include:

1. Designing, delivering, and implementing a dual degree programme that allows Tsinghua University students enrolled in the School of Journalism and Communication to have the opportunity to earn a Master's degree in Media and Communication at WKWSCI.

2. Maintaining high academic standards for admission.

3. Maintaining a separate independent admission process, ensuring that enrolled students meet the admission criteria.

4. Promoting a range of mutually beneficial activities, including academic collaborations, cultural exchange programmes, and industry engagements. These activities may involve student and faculty exchanges, joint research projects, teaching collaborations, overseas immersion opportunities, and industry visits. Such initiatives will enrich the educational experience of students and foster a deeper understanding between Singapore and China.

The signing of the MOU marks the beginning of an exciting chapter in the partnership between NTU and Tsinghua University. Both institutions are committed to leveraging their collective expertise and resources to advance the field of communication and media on a global scale.
